This is the original 760 square foot Beekeeper's Bungalow in Point Roberts, Washington. It's a 1.5 story small house under 1,000 square feet! The house has two bedrooms, one downstairs and one upstairs that includes a reading or artist's loft. There's a galley kitchen, full bathroom, small dining area, and a living room with propane fireplace. The house sits across the street from the water and was built as a vacation cottage, though the house is built to above-code standards for glazing and insulation. The No. 4 Beekeeper's Bungalow plan can be downloaded here for free.
Island House Project (Plan Not Yet Released)
The Island House is just under 1,500 square feet. It's a 1.5 story two bedroom, 1.5 bathroom rural island retreat. It's a colorful fusion of Asian and Northwest elements reminiscent of Seattle, Portland, and Vancouver, BC bungalows. With it's traditional exterior and modern interior it's a perfect fit for its locale. Though larger than many plans from THE small HOUSE CATALOG it was still built by two people in just 12 months to the day! It's located in Friday Harbor, San Juan Island, Washington, about two hours from Seattle. This plan has not yet been released.
The No. 1 Tiny House (Moschata)
The Moschata is a tiny home on wheels! At a modest 170 square feet it still enjoys a working kitchen that includes a full-size refrigerator & freezer as well as a full complement of appliances for cooking, baking, and cleaning. It's the first tiny house to feature a porcelain flush toilet and a miniature shower and bathtub. Best of all is the extra wide footprint that allows for an entry porch, a couch nook, a folding dining table for up to three people, as well as bookshelves with an office corner. Upstairs is a queen sized sleeping loft and an additional storage or guest loft. This plan has been downloaded tens of thousands of times and customized projects exist all over the world.
Maine Farm House (Unreleased Plan)
This was drafted and designed by THE small HOUSE CATALOG based on a plan developed by John Raabe from Country Plans. The original plan can be purchased from Country Plans here.
No. 39 - The Ithaca (Under Construction 2016-2017)
The Ithaca is a modern two bedroom one bathroom design inspired by some Scandinavian studies I've been doing for THE small HOUSE CATALOG. The design uses a super-insulation strategy to reduces air-leakage and thermal bridging through the slab (R-20), walls (R-30) and ceiling (R-60). So far it works amazingly well. Project was started summer 2016 and is functionally complete as of February 2017. Exterior finishing work and interior trim work will take place into late Spring 2017. More photos will be shared and the plan can already be downloaded for free here.
