If you’ve been following the blog over the past few years you may have noticed one of my client’s YouTube channels taking off. Robert Abasolo started Robuilt to share his journey building, renting and now selling small houses. This month I invited him to share how he manages one of his latest projects, a small Airbnb rental he built in Joshua Tree, California. He’s shares his endless positive energy and good humor - and I write that as someone who’s seen him work with Los Angeles plans examiners!

If you’re interested in the dollars and cents of building and renting, look no further. Here’s Robert’s invitation to check out his YouTube channel, I think you’ll enjoy his videos:

Hello there! Robert here—of the Robuilt Youtube channel.

I’ve worked with Shawn over the last few years and have had the opportunity to build three homes designed by the man, the myth, the legend himself. When I built my first tiny home here in LA, I never imagined it would change my life in the many ways that it did. That first tiny house cost me $72,000. After so much positive feedback from the tiny home community, I thought, “What if I did it again, but better?” So I set my sights on Joshua Tree and decided to really blow out what would eventually become Casita Conejo. My original vision for the casita was to use it primarily as a short-term rental investment property that I would occasionally use as a vacation home with my with. What I didn’t expect was that it would be 100% booked—every single month. And that was before it ever went viral on Youtube! Now it’s hard to actually use it for personal use because there’s never a free day on the calendar. With everything going on and so much financial insecurity, this property has really come in the clutch for me, my wife and my sweet baby Isla Rue. It generates thousands of dollars of passive income every single month that I can stock away for a rainy day (or year haha).

If you’re interested in an in-depth financial analysis of how much I make every single month from this $165,000 investment, be sure to check out my latest video where I cover monthly expenses and profits. If you have any questions about the property or building process, drop me a comment

Be sure to let me know that Shawn sent ya!
